The Machine Makes the Coffee. The Person Makes the Cafe.

The Machine Makes the Coffee. The Person Makes the Cafe.

A machine can pull a consistent shot. It can't read the room.

What automation is actually good at

Automation is good at repetition. Dial in the grind, hit the button, get the same shot every time. That's real, and it matters. But what it can't do is notice the regular having a bad day and change their order before they ask. It can't read a queue and decide who actually needs to be served next. It can't make the small talk that turns a first time customer into a regular.

Why the person still matters more

The machine handles the coffee. The person behind it handles why people come back. Automation handles the shot, and the person behind it handles everything else, and that's the part that keeps a cafe full.
