WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? | For Australian residents and citizens who want Nationally Recognised Training to get a job working as a Barista.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Learn about coffee growing, processing and other factors that affect flavour in coffee
  • Tour through the roastery, looking at green beans and learning about the roasting process
  • Dose, tamp, extraction technique
  • Working with scales and adjusting the grind
  • Using and understanding recipes
  • Spinning milk
  • Coffee variations (flat-white, latte, cappuccino, mocha, long-black, piccolo, macchiato)
  • Setting up & closing down the machine
  • Advising customers and taking orders
  • Safe food handling techniques
  • Implementing hygienic practices while working as a barista

This course is designed for people that have little or no experience making coffee and who want to enter into the industry or work as a Barista. 

UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE COURSE YOU WILL RECEIVE 2 STATEMENTS OF ATTAINMENT

  • Prepare and serve espresso coffee (SITHFAB025)
  • Use hygienic practices for food safety (SITXFSA005)

COURSE OUTLINE

5 hours  – Online content that you will work through at your own pace.  It includes all the knowledge you need to make amazing coffee.  Instructional videos, interactive content and tips from our professional Baristas.There are 6 Modules which are completed online;

  • Intro to coffee
  • Seed to cup
  • Latte art
  • Working with recipes
  • High volume barista
  • Hygienic practices for food safety

6 hours – Practical skills in our state of the art training facility in Marrickville

  • Dose, tamp, extraction technique
  • Working with scales and adjusting the grind
  • Using and understanding recipes
  • Spinning milk
  • Coffee variations (flat-white, latte, cappuccino, mocha, long-black, piccolo, macchiato)
  • Setting up & closing down the machine
  • Advising customers and taking orders

After successful completion of the course, the student will receive two Statement of Attainment in Hospitality:

  • Prepare and serve espresso coffee (SITHFAB025)
  • Use hygienic practices for food safety (SITXFSA005)
