WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? Students who have completed the Foundations Course and want to advance their training.

The Intermediate Barista course bridges the gap between learning the basics and working confidently in a real café environment.

This hands-on session focuses on setting up a bar from scratch, dialling in espresso recipes, and working efficiently during service. You’ll learn how to control extraction, understand yield, and move with speed — without sacrificing quality.

GOAL: Move from “making coffee” to “controlling coffee”

What You Will Learn:

  • Full espresso bar setup from scratch

  • Dialling in espresso recipes for consistency

  • Understanding yield and weighing shots accurately

  • Introduction to the espresso compass (beginner level)

  • Workflow and drink sequencing during service

  • Making coffee at speed while maintaining quality

  • Splitting milk correctly for multiple drinks

  • Taking orders and serving customers with confidence

Does NOT include:

  • Working with Single Origins

  • Recipe creation

  • Sensory calibration

➡️ Outcome: Can independently dial in and adjust coffee during service.

  • We accept student aged 14 or over. We have a specific course for school students called the 2-Day School Holiday Bootcamp that runs every school holidays, however, students aged 14 or over are welcome at any of our courses.

  • Unfortunately, our Marrickville cafe is closed. However, you can still stop by to say hi and buy some beans!
